The Life of Jesus
The Life of Jesus ★★ La Vie de Jesus 1996
Small town boredom and despair—French style. Twenty-year-old Freddy (Douche) is an unemployed epileptic, who lives with his mother. He spends his time with girlfriend Marie (Cottreel) or riding his moped with his equally disenfranchised buddies. When a young Arab, Kader (Chaatouf), shows an interest in Marie (that's reciprocated), Freddy and his friends beat him up. Apparently the title is a reference to the spiritual suffering Freddy feels, even if he doesn't know exactly how to articulate his emotions. French with subtitles. 96m/C VHS, DVD . FR David Douche, Marjorie Cottreel, Kader Chaatouf, Samuel Boidin, Genevieve Cottreel; D: Bruno Dumont; W: Bruno Dumont; C: Philippe Van Leeuw; M: Richard Cuvillier.
