Shout at the Devil
Shout at the Devil ★½ 1976 (PG)
English officer Moore and Irish-American adventurer Marvin seek to blow up a German battleship out for repairs in East Africa before the outbreak of WWI. There's also some intrigue about ivory smuggling. From the novel by Wilbur Smith and based on an actual incident, but that doesn't make the comedy adventure any more palatable. Marvin's hamming is ludicrous, Moore is unusually wooden, and the big budget permits any number of fairly pointless actionoriented excursions and explosions. 128m/C VHS . GB Lee Marvin, Roger Moore, Barbara Parkins, Ian Holm; D: Peter Hunt; M: Maurice Jarre.
