Aav, Evald, Estonian composer; b. Reval, Feb. 22, 1900; d. there (Tallinn), March 21, 1939. He was a student of A. Kapp at the Tallinn Cons. (1926). His works include the first national Estonian opera, The Vikings (Tallinn, Sept. 8, 1928), a symphony (1939), and a tone poem, Life.
