Alberti, Giuseppe Matteo
Alberti, Giuseppe Matteo, Italian violinist and composer; b. Bologna, Sept. 20, 1685; d. there, Feb. 18, 1751. He studied violin with C. Manzolini and P. M. Minelli, and took lessons in counterpoint with F. Arresti; then played violin in the orch. of S. Petronio in Bologna; he was also a member of the Accademia Filarmonica there, and was its president from 1721. He composed violin concertos, sonatas, sinfonias, and vocal works, several of which were publ. in his lifetime.
