Brunskill, Muriel (b Kendal, Cumbria, 1900; d Bishops Tawton, Devon, 1980). Eng. contralto. Début London 1920. In BNOC 1922–7. Noted for singing in choral works of Handel, Mendelssohn, and Elgar. One of orig. 16 soloists in Serenade to Music (1938). Late in career sang frequently in Gilbert and Sullivan operas.
