Castro, Jean de
South Netherlands composer; b. Liège, c. 1540; d. c. 1600. He was active in Antwerp. After sojourns in Germany and France, he was again in Antwerp by 1586. He later was in the service of the courts in Dusseldorf and Cologne. He publ. 29 vols, of music (1571–1600), among which were various sacred works, madrigals, chansons, and odes.
