Eddy, (Hiram) Clarence
Eddy, (Hiram) Clarence, distinguished American organist; b. Greenfield, Mass., June 23, 1851; d. Winnetka, III, Jan. 10, 1937. He studied with Dudley Buck in N.Y., and in 1871 went to Berlin to study piano with Loschhorn. He made frequent tours in America and Europe; appeared at the Vienna Exposition of 1873; at the Philadelphia Centennial in 1876; gave a series of 100 organ recitals in Chicago (1879) with completely different programs; appeared at the Chicago Columbian Exposition in 1893, etc. He wrote many pieces for organ. He publ. The Church and Concert Organist (2 vols., 1882–85), The Organ in Church (1887), and A Method for Pipe Organ (1917).
