Fenice, Teatro La. Prin. and extremely beautiful Venetian opera house. Opened 1792, destroyed by fire 1836, rebuilt 1837, restored 1854 and 1938. Among operas f.p. there are L'Italiana in Algeri, Semiramide, I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Ernani, Rigoletto, La traviata, Simon Boccanegra, The Rake's Progress, The Turn of the Screw, and The Fiery Angel.
