Gascongne Mathieu
Gascongne Mathieu
Gascongne, Mathieu, French composer and priest who flourished in the early 16th century. He was a magister and priest in the Cambrai diocese (1518), and may also have been active at the French royal court. His extant works comprise eight masses, two Magnificats, 19 motets, and a number of chansons. Some of his sacred music appeared in anthologies publ. by Pierre Attaingnant (1534–35).
