Gordigiani, Giovanni Battista

Gordigiani, Giovanni Battista, Italian singer, teacher, and composer, brother of Luigi Gordigiani; b. Modena, July 1795; d. Prague, March 2, 1871. He was trained at the Milan Cons. After appearing in opera in Florence (1817) and Pisa (1818), he pursued a career as a concert singer. In 1822 he settled in Prague, where he later became a voice teacher. Teresa Stolz was one of his pupils. Among his works were several operas, church music, and songs.
