Hatze, Josip
Hatze, Josip, Croatian composer; b. Split, March 21, 1879; d. there, Jan. 30, 1959. He studied with Mascagni in Italy, and belongs to a generation of Croatian composers entirely influenced by Italian music. He wrote the operas Povratak (The Return; Zagreb, March 21, 1911) and Adel i Mara (Zagreb, March 1, 1933) as well as many songs.
