Kogan, Pavel
Kogan, Pavel, Russian violinist and conductor, son of Leonid (Borisovich) Kogan; b. Moscow, June 6, 1952. He enrolled at Moscow’s Central Music School when he was 6, and later pursued his training at the Moscow Cons, with Jankelevitch. After taking 1st prize inthe Sibelius Competition in Helsinki in 1970, he toured extensively as a violin virtuoso. Inlater years, he took up a career as a conductor. In 1988 he became a conductor at the BolshoiTheater in Moscow. He also conducted the Moscow State Sym. Orch. from 1989.
