Luxon, Benjamin (Matthew) (b Redruth, 1937). Eng. baritone. Sang with EOG 1963–70. Numerous recitals and concerts. Opera at Aldeburgh. Débuts: Glyndebourne 1972; CG 1972 (created Jester, Death, and Joking Jesus in Taverner); ENO 1974; Scottish Opera 1983; NY Met 1980; Los Angeles 1988. Created role of Owen Wingrave in Britten's opera (BBC TV 1971 and CG 1973). Noted as Don Giovanni. CBE 1986.
