Plé-Caussade, Simone
Plé-Caussade, Simone , French pianist, pedagogue, and composer; b. Paris, Aug. 14, 1897; d. Bagnères-de-Bigorre, Aug. 6, 1985. She studied piano at the Paris Cons. with Cortot and composition with Georges Caussade , whom she later married. In 1928 she was appointed prof. of harmony and counterpoint at the Paris Cons.; among her students were Gilbert Amy and Betsy Jolas. She wrote a number of orch. and chamber music works in a fine impressionistic manner.
