Rappold, Marie (née Winterroth)
Rappold, Marie (née Winterroth ), English soprano; b. London, c. 1873; d. Los Angeles, May 12, 1957. The family moved to America when she was a child. She studied with Oscar Saenger in N.Y., making her Metropolitan Opera debut there as Sulamith in Die Königen von Saba (Nov. 22, 1905). She remained on its roster until 1909, and then went to Europe. She was married to Dr. Julius Rappold, but divorced him and married Rudolf Berger in 1913. She had another period of singing at the Metropolitan Opera (1910–20) and later appeared in Chicago (1927–28). She then settled in Los Angeles as a teacher.
