Siret, Nicholas
Siret, Nicholas, French organist and composer; b. Troyes, March 16, 1663; d. there, June 22, 1754. He was born into a musical family. After studies with François Couperin, he succeeded his father as organist at Troyes Cathedral in 1689, a position he held for his entire life. He also served as organist at the churches of St. Jean and St. Madeleine. Siret publ. 2 esteemed vols, of harpsichord music (Paris, c. 1710, 1719).
