Sullivan, Ira (Brevard Jr.)

Sullivan, Ira (Brevard Jr.) jazz trumpeter, flugelhornist, saxophonist, flutist; b. Washington, D.C., May 1, 1931. He was first associated with the Chicago modern-jazz scene, then moved to Fla. in the mid-1960s and has basically remained there since, performing in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Sullivan toured with Red Rodney in a co-led group in the early and mid-1980s. He is a devout Christian and is astonishingly fluent and impassioned on all his instruments.
