Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 n. (in the UK) an Act of Parliament that, together with the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001, restricts the prescription, dispensing, sale, and possession of dangerous drugs. These controlled drugs include the natural opiates and their synthetic substitutes, cocaine, and LSD (class A drugs), amphetamines and barbiturates (class B drugs), and most benzodiazepines and cannabis (class C drugs).
