minimum-error decoding
minimum-error decoding A strategy for decoding an error-correcting code: it chooses the codeword most likely to have been transmitted, given the word actually received. This is by contrast with maximum-likelihood decoding, but the two strategies become identical when all the codewords are equally probable.
