California redwood
California redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) Conifer that grows to a height of more than 100m (330ft), and is one of the tallest trees. Its close relative (also from California) is the less common Big Tree or Wellingtonia (Sequoiadendron giganteum), the heaviest tree in the Western world. Sequoias live to be more than 4000 years old.
