Stanislavsky, Konstantin (1863–1938) ( Konstantin Sergeievich Alekseiev) Russian actor, director, and teacher. Stanislavsky's theory of drama, as described in My Life In Art (1924), stressed the value of the ensemble and a naturalistic approach, with each actor making emotional contact with their character.
