CABBAGE PLANTING EXPEDITION. Derisive name, possibly coined by Charles Lee, for Loudoun's unsuccessful attempt against Louisburg in 1757. Loudoun ordered his men to plant cabbages at Halifax to provide themselves with fresh vegetables.
