Aramidae
Aramidae (limpkin; class Aves, order Gruiformes) A monotypic family (Aramus guarauna) which is a brown-olive bird, streaked with white, that is structurally crane-like and rail-like in appearance. The bill is long, laterally compressed, and decurved. The bird has a long neck, broad wings, a short tail, and long legs with long, unwebbed toes. It feeds on snails, nests on the ground or in bushes, and is found in wooded swamps in the southern USA, and in Central and S. America.
