ABNAʾ AL-BALAD ("sons of the land," in Arabic)
Nationalist Movement of Israeli Arabs who insist they are part of the Palestinian People. Appearing at the beginning of 1970, the movement was started by Muhammad Kiwan in anticipation of the municipal elections in the village of Umm al-Fahm. Its principal leaders are Raja Ighbariyeh, Awad Abdul Fattah, and Ahmad Muhammad.
