AHL AL-BEIT (Ahl al-Bayt, "People of the House," in Arabic)
Arab term used to designate "those of the family of the prophet Muhammad," that is, his daughter, Fatima, his son-in-law, Ali, and their two sons, Hasan and Hussein. This descent is also designated by the term Ahl al-Aba ("People of the Cloak").
