Jeddah, Treaty of
JEDDAH, TREATY OF
Signed on 20 May 1927 by King Abd al-Aziz ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Saʿud—known as ibn Saʿud—and the British, this treaty established the frontiers of the newly established Saudi Arabia with the British protectorates of Transjordan, Iraq, and Kuwait. With the Treaty of Jeddah, Great Britain recognized ibn Saʿud as "King of Hijaz, Nejd, and its dependencies."
