TIKVA (ha Tikva, hope, in Hebrew)
Israeli political bloc essentially for immigrants from Ethiopia. Founded in January 1999 in anticipation of elections scheduled for the following May, this party proposed defending the interests of the Ethiopian community, which was badly integrated into Israeli society. Its founder, Ephraim Yona, is a former Likud militant. Tikva secured no Knesset seats in the 1999 or 2001 elections and did not run in 2003.
