Khulm
Khulm (kŏŏlm), formerly Tashkurgan or Tash-Kurgan (täsh´kŏŏrgän´), town, N Afghanistan. It has extensive fruit orchards and is a market for wool and sheep with a notable covered bazaar. Khulm is commonly identified with the ancient town of Aornos on Alexander the Great's line of march (330–329 BC). Later known as Khulm, it was destroyed in mid-16th cent.; the ruins are to the north of present-day Khulm.
