adenohypophysis
adenohypophysis In vertebrates, part of the pituitary gland that is derived from the hypophysial sac during the development of the embryo. It has two parts; the pars distalis, which forms the anterior lobe of the pituitary; and the pars intermedia (absent in some mammals and in birds), which forms part of the posterior lobe.
