Peperomia (family Piperaceae) A genus of fleshy herbs, some of which are climbing or epiphytic (see EPIPHYTE). The leaves are without stipules. Flowers are borne in spikes and are hermaphrodite, with no sepals or petals and 2 stamens. The fruit is a berry. Some species are cultivated for their attractive foliage. There are 1000 species, occurring in the tropics, mainly in America.
