Talauma (family Magnoliaceae) A genus of trees and shrubs, like Magnolia except that the fruiting carpels form a woody or cartilaginous mass, separate from the axis, and indehiscent (i.e. the upper portion of the carpels breaking away). There are 50 species, occurring in tropical and subtropical Asia and America.
