Member of the French Young Communists' Movement national bureau (1990–98), 1st national secretary of the Communist students' union (1994–97), and member of the National Council of the French Communist Party (2000–); representing the Confederal Group of the European United Left/Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL), elected to 5th European Parliament (1999–2004).
