English murderer. Name variations: Mrs. Hewetson; Ada Chard Williams. Born c. 1876 in England; hanged at Newgate, Mar 6 (some sources cite Mar 8), 1900.
Placed advertisement in paper which stated she could find homes for unwanted children; charged Florence Jones £5 to find a home for her daughter, 21-month-old Selina, whose body later washed up on the bank of the Thames; at her trial at Old Bailey (Feb 16-17, 1900), convicted of battering and strangling the child; suspected in the deaths of additional children, was the last woman to be hanged at Newgate (Mar 1900).
