Cornfield, Ellen (1948–)
American modern dancer. Born Mar 26, 1948, in Washington, DC.
Trained with Merce Cunningham and Carolyn Brown; joined Cunningham company (mid-1970s) and created roles in his Westbeth (1975), Torse (1976), and Travelogue (1977); choreographed and presented own works, including Performance No. 1 (1980) and Three Times 3 (1980); founded Cornfield Dance (1989), which performed throughout Japan, in NY, and at Jacob's Pillow, among other venues; held teaching residencies at North Carolina School of the Arts, SUNY Purchase, Ohio State University, and University of California at Berkeley.
