Japanese poet. Name variations: Echigo no Benin. Born Kenshi or Masako in 999; still alive in 1078; dau. of Murasaki Shikibu (c. 973–c. 1015) and Fujiwara no Nobutaka (court official).
Thirty-seven of her poems can be found in imperial anthologies.
