Henning, Rachel (1826–1914)

Australian letter writer. Born 1826 in England; died 1914 in Australia.

Visited Australia twice before settling there (1861); lived on brother's station in Bowen, Queensland, and married his overseer; wrote letters to sisters about colonial life in Queensland outback; letters, edited by David Adams and illustrated by Norman Lindsay, published as The Letters of Rachel Henning (1962).
