Chinese wife of the emperor. Name variations: Jade Lute. Born in Shandong province, China; was a member of the Manchu minority; died April 27, 2001, age 73, in Changchun, China; educated at a Japanese school in Manchuria; m. Pu Yi, later known as Henry Puyi (the last emperor), 1943 (div. 1958); m. tv engineer; children: (2nd m.) 1 son.
At 16, became wife number 4 of the last emperor of China (1943), who was then head of the Japanese puppet state, Manchuria; with husband, arrested by the Communist Party (1945); put to work in a wool mill, was told to study the works of Marx and Lenin; became a local government officer, then librarian.
