New Zealand midwife. Name variations: Hannah Stickle. Born Dec 12, 1839, probably in Sydney, Australia; died Aug 2, 1940, at Levin, New Zealand; dau. of Thomas Stickle (trader) and Turikatuku; m. Joseph Chapman Retter, 1861; children: 3 daughters, 5 sons.
Served as midwife in small practice in village settlement of Levin (1900–26).
