Queen of Albania. Name variations: Countess Apponyi. Born in Hungary in 1915; daughter of Gladys Stewart Girrault of New York City and Count Julius Nagi-Apponyi of Hungary; married King Zog I, king of Albania (1895–1961), on April 27, 1938; children: one son.

Geraldine Apponyi was working as a clerk in the souvenir shop of the Budapest National Museum before she married King Zog of Albania and became a queen in 1938. One year later, the royals fled their country with their two-dayold son. They lived in England and Egypt during World War II. Deposed by the Communists after the war, the family resided in France.
