Countess of Hertford and Gloucester . Name variations: Matilda de Clare. Died in 1315 (some sources cite 1320); interred at Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucester; daughter of Richard de Burgh the Red (c. 1259–1326), 2nd earl of Ulster (r. 1271–1326) and 4th earl of Connaught, and Margaret de Burgh (d.1303); married Gilbert de Clare, 8th earl of Hertford, 4th earl of Gloucester, on September 29, 1308, at Waltham Abbey, Essex; associated with John de Birmingham; children: John de Clare (b. 1312).
