Born in Paris in 1922 and convent educated, actress Micheline Presle made her screen debut at 16 under the name Micheline Michel and attained almost instant success. Her career peaked in the late 1940s, following her role opposite French actor Gérard Philipe in Devil in the Flesh (1947), the story of an older woman who falls in love with a younger man. In the wake of international acclaim, she made a number of Hollywood films, but failed to interest American moviegoers. She continued her career in Europe, returning to Hollywood intermittently, notably in If a Man Answers (1962) and The Prize (1963).
