Aquamarine
Aquamarine ★★½ 2006 (PG)
Sweet tweener flick about best friends and a girl with a tail. Mermaid Aquamarine (Paxton) washes into a Florida beach club pool after a storm. She's discovered by 13-year-olds Claire (Roberts) and Hailey (Levesque) and the trio make a pact: Aqua needs to prove to her stern father that true love exists within three days or she will be forced to marry, and the girls want her to grant their wish to stop Hailey from moving away. Fortunately, Aqua is a blonde babe (her tail can conveniently vanish during daylight) who falls for cute lifeguard, Raymond (McDorman)—a romance the younger girls eagerly encourage. Generally comic calamities ensue. Based on the book by Alice Hoffman. 109m/C DVD .
