CANTU, Norma Elia. (Elia). American (born Mexico), b. 1947. Genres: Documentaries/Reportage, Novels, Poetry, Women's studies and issues. Career: Texas A&M International University, Laredo, TX, professor of English, 1980-. Visiting professor at Georgetown University School for Continuing Education, 1994-95; has read poetry, given lectures, and presented papers in locations throughout the United States, Mexico, and Paris, France. Has served as an editor or consultant for the University of New Mexico Press, Texas A&M University Press, and Chicana/Latina Studies Journal; produced and moderated "Fiesta Latina," a weekly public service radio program on KRNU; past director of Teatro Chicano/a at the University of Nebraska; past translator at the Development Center for Hispanic Affairs in Lincoln, NE; has served on several other community projects.
