Connie and Carla
Connie and Carla ★½ 2004 (PG-13)
“Victor/Victoria” meets “Some Like it Hot” in this train wreck. Writer Vardalos and Colette are Connie and Carla, who have been a singing team since childhood and who perform medleys in an airport lounge where, despite being hasbeens that never were, the two still dream of stardom. In an unlikely turn of events, the two witness a mob hit and are forced to go on the lam to L.A., where they pretend to be female impersonators. The girls pretending to be boys pretending to be girls act is a surprise hit, allowing minor celebrity and close calls with the mob to ensue. Duchovney is the inferior subplot love interest who adds nothing to this unfunny, forced comedy filled with extremely cliched, stereotypical gay humor. 98m/C DVD .
