Coyote Ugly
Coyote Ugly ★½ 2000 (PG-13)
Producer Bruckheimer revisits the “Flashdance” formula for this tale of a young innocent songwriter (Perabo) who ends up slingin' drinks and barin' her navel in the eponymous bar while seeking fame and fortune in New York. The plot is as naive and wideeyed as the main character, leaving no room for surprise twists, but allowing for a moviesaving performance by John Goodman as the concerned dad and a discovery in Aussie Garcia as the love interest. The rest of the cast consists of jiggly window dressing, but the PG13 rating guarentees disappointment for a large segment of the audience. It's bad, but not in a careerdestroying, “Showgirls” kind of way. 94m/C VHS, DVD, UMD .
