December Boys
December Boys ★½ 2007 (PG-13)
The four “December Boys”— named so because they were all born in December—Sparks (Byers), Spit (Fraser), Misty (Cormie) and Maps (Radcliffe—yep, Harry Potter) are tight friends, and all orphans in Australia in the 60s. The teens get to leave the orphanage for a seaside holiday on the coast, where they learn that a couple down the beach may be interested in adopting one of them. Three of the four jostle for the attention of the would-be parents while Maps, having given up ever having his own family, pursues the local hot girl (Palmer). The boys get to live it up on the outside of the orphanage, but there's just nothing special in this uninspired and occasionally sappy plot. The breathtaking scenery of Australia's south coast, with its shoreline, caves, and rock formations, is interesting. 105m/C DVD .
