Career: Galt Public Library, Galt, ON, children's librarian, 1938-42; Toronto Public Library, children's librarian, 1942-52, reference librarian, 1952-57; Canadian Library Association, editor, 1957-61; affiliated with University of British Columbia, Vancouver, beginning in 1961, became professor of librarianship, served as May Hill Arbuthnot Honorary Lecturer, 1979; Officer, Order of Canada, 1994.
