Last Orders
Last Orders ★★★ 2001 (R)
Based on Graham Swift's award-winning 1996 novel, which covers some 50 years in the lives of four London friends. Vic (Courtenay), Ray (Hoskins), and Lenny (Hemmings) all meet in their favorite East London pub to toast their recently deceasedfriend Jack (Caine), along with Jack's son, Vince (Winstone). Jack's last request was to have his ashes scattered in the sea at Margate, where he spent his honeymoon with wife Amy (Mirren) in 1939. Amy, however, will not make the trip as she has is going to visit their severely handicapped daughter June (Morelli), whom Jack could never accept, at the institution where June lives. Flashbacks fill out the storylines and the cast is stellar. 109m/C VHS, DVD . GB Michael Caine, Bob Hoskins, Tom Courtenay, David Hemmings, Ray Winstone, Helen Mirren, J.J.
