Miracle of Morgan's Creek
Miracle of Morgan's Creek ★★★★ 1944
Sturges's breakneck comedy details the misadventures of wartime floozy Trudy Kockenlocker (Hutton) who gets drunk at a party, thinks she marries a soldier on leave, gets pregnant, forgets the whole thing, and then tries to evade scandal by getting local schnook and sometimes boyfriend Norval (Bracken) to take responsibility. Oh yeah, and it turns out Trudy's expecting sextuplets. Hilarious, out-to-make-trouble farce that shouldn't have, by all rights, made it past the censors of the time. The director's most scathing assault on American values. Loosely remade as 1958's “Rock-A-Bye Baby” starring Jerry Lewis. 98m/B VHS, DVD .
