Now, Voyager ★★★½ 1942
Davis plays a lonely spinster who is transformed into a vibrant young woman by therapy. She comes out of her shell to have a romantic affair with a suave European (who turns out to be married) but still utters the famous phrase “Oh, Jerry, we have the stars. Let's not ask for the moon.” Definitely melodramatic, but an involving story nonetheless. Based on a novel by Olive Higgins Prouty. 117m/B VHS, DVD . Bette Davis, Gladys Cooper, Claude Rains, Paul Henreid, Bonita Granville, Ilka Chase; D: Irving Rapper; W: Casey Robinson; C: Sol Polito; M: Max Steiner. Oscars ‘42: Orig. Dramatic Score, Natl. Film Reg. ‘07.
